Words to Live By

There are so many words that we use to describe various qualities we strive for on the path toward wholeness. This morning, I came across the word integrity and was reading about the various ways that it expresses itself in the world. Yes, I want to live a life of integrity and to do that, I must develop and exemplify other attributes as well. This morning, I’m preparing a Sunday Message about the Mirror Principle, and it goes along with what I’m writing now.

Thinking of looking at myself in the mirror, I want to see myself with the eyes of the Creator, to go beyond skin deep to the intent behind those eyes, the joy beneath that gentle smile and the love emanating directly from the heart that I see in the mirror.

I ask Creator to show me where I might be missing the mark, where am I not being an example of Christ Consciousness, where I am  falling short.  I set my intention to work on that. To live a life of integrity means that I set the highest bar, not something I can just struggle over, but I set the highest bar in all my interactions, my thoughts, my behaviors and my consciousness.

This is something that cannot be faked. You can’t fake it like a reality tv show where the actors are being what they believe the audience wants, turning just so, tilting the head like this and always being mindful of where the camera is and what the camera wants rather than being themselves.

No, I don’t want to live for the camera and fake it. That is unreality at its best. I want to be REAL. I intend to look in the mirror and clearly see a person who loves with the heart of God, who thinks with the mind of God, who behaves with the wisdom of God. Yes, I want to embody all the Christ Qualities: Love, Joy, Peace, Understanding, Strength, Kindness, Compassion, Wisdom, Honesty, Courage, Health and Contentment.

These are the true jewels we are searching for. They are not to be found in riches and baubles we have convinced ourselves are our human goals. Those will only leave you hollow inside without having achieved the true gold of consciousness, of living our highest and best.

May we see the value of living in integrity, love and all other qualities of Higher Consciousness. It is what I aspire toward and value when looking in my mirror today.  May it be so with you. Amen.
