Have you been carrying around the burden of past mistakes? I hope to convince you to release yourself from the painful memories and set your burden down. We all make mistakes. We’re human. Some have been blunders that caused us embarrassment and some might have caused pain to ourselves or others. We may have been carrying a burden of guilt, shame, regret, deep remorse and have found no way to release ourselves from the pain. I have a few suggestions that could help you with the process.
No matter what has occurred, it can all be sorted out.
The Divine can handle this.
Align your heart, mind, thoughts with God.
Spend time in prayer and meditation.
Forgive yourself and others.
Find the lesson and learn from it.
Make amends if possible.
Give it to God.
First, if you have caused pain to another, make amends if you’re able. If not, choose an act of kindness that would send loving energy into the Universe. Write a letter of forgiveness and feel the words deeply.
Try the Ho’oponopono Prayer as a Mantra.
Go into your heart space and reflect upon those from whom you would like forgiveness. Write their names one by one and then in your quiet time and space with no distractions, practice this powerful cleansing method.
The ancient Hawaiian mantra of Ho’oponopono[i] is this:
Step 1: I’m Sorry
Step 2: Please forgive me
Step 3: Thank you
Step 4: I love you
Saying “I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you” serves as a tool for emotional cleansing. By repeating these phrases, we can release negative emotions like anger, resentment, guilt, blame, regret, and shame which are hindering our healing process.
Saying I’m sorry reflects your willingness to take 100% responsibility for your life and actions. It recognizes that when you were not living from the wisdom and insight you have today, you may have hurt yourself or others. You take responsibility for that, and you deeply desire emotional cleansing and healing for all concerned.
Make a daily habit of spending time with no distractions and use this practice to cleanse and heal. You’ll find yourself not only healing your own errors in judgment from the past, but you will create a miracle for the one whom you are asking forgiveness. It may be someone who has passed on, a past or present relationship, a family member, co-worker or whomever. Asking forgiveness with true feeling and passion will release you and them from the burden of the past. Go ahead, try it. Set yourself free. With great love, JudyV
