Don’t Settle for a Life that is Not Yours

I heard someone who was deep into self-pity say that “Yeah, I’d have a great life like you if I had been born with a silver spoon in my mouth.” My reply would be, “You’ve got to be kidding.” If being born in a modest family with more children than they could comfortably manage, more drama and chaos than the law allows, then maybe you’re right.

The truth is, they are right, depending upon the definition of “silver spoon”, because I was born into a family that insisted that we become independent, strong, and self-sufficient. We had a mother who said, “Can’t never did do anything.” Both our parents had love and compassion, but they believed that no matter what had happened in your life, you should pick yourself up, dust yourself off and begin again. That is known, my dear friends, as resilience and persistence.

It has been said that “The extra mile is never crowded.”[i] What does that mean? It means that if we have a true goal that is authentic and comes from our inner passion, we won’t give up when the going gets tough. In our higher state of consciousness, we’ll look at a challenge with a unique perspective. Instead of a problem arising like a late or cancelled flight and getting upset, we’ll look at it calmly and say, “Perhaps I wasn’t meant to arrive there today.” You’ll begin to look at events differently and notice the signs and synchronicities all around you.

Resilience and persistence should never be abrasive or pushy. We’re not talking about aggressiveness here, only true commitment. Being an arrogant person is never the way to true authenticity and spiritual growth. Instead, learning to be patient, allowing others to be who they are and reminding yourself of your true self, you’ll stay the course toward spiritual freedom, peace, harmony, and joy.

This spiritual journey, once we begin to become aware of something higher, greater, a sense of “more”, is held in place by setting our intentions for peace of heart and mind, joy, harmony and the highest and best. It is helpful to choose a mantra as a reminder, such as:

“I AM steadily moving toward my Authentic Self and Purpose.”

“I move toward my Authentic Self and Purpose with Joy and Ease.”

“Divine Love Paves My Way Forward Always.”

“Divine Light Illumines my Path.”

“I AM Always Lovingly Held in the Embrace of the Beloved.”

Sometimes something as simple as taking a Sacred Pause when faced with disharmony can provide an opportunity to reset our balance and remember Who We Are and Our True Destination.  The spiritual path toward gaining our authenticity is so worth the effort. Commit to that. Set an intention, stay the course, and be joyful along the way. Lovingly Always, JudyV
