Last Sunday was Mother’s Day and as always it provided an opportunity to remember those who have nurtured and loved me over the years. I certainly remember my mom and dad for the many ways they provided nurturing for me and my brothers and sisters.
I was with friends last week and said that I love to nurture plants back to life. I mentioned a coreopsis growing on the roadside that I carefully retrieved and replanted at home. It is flourishing. My friend said that she rarely has success with replanting them and asked what I did. I told her that the trick is to place the plant gently and lovingly in the soil and press the soil around the roots, making certain that the roots are snug in the moist soil.
That reminded me of how babies are snugly wrapped in the nursery so they will feel they are being held and loved. The same concept is used with weighted blankets which are supposed to mimic the feeling of being swaddled. That is such a lovely thought, and I just wondered how we could be a nurturer to ourselves by allowing the Divine Nurturer to lovingly and gently hold us, tenderly wrapping arms around us, bringing peace and calm to ourselves and the world.
That is a lovely thought. I pray that the Divine Nurturer will hold you lovingly today and sooth every concern that you might have so that you will flourish.
